Entry requirement
- the intermediate school leaving certificate or another qualification recognized as equivalents
or
- dthe lower secondary school leaving certificate or another recognized equivalent qualification,
provided:
a) proof of successfully completed vocational training of at least two years.
or
b) a state-recognized or state-examined professional qualification in a state-regulated nursing assistant or helper profession of at least one year duration, which corresponds to the minimum requirements for training for assistant and helper professions in nursing decided by the 2012 Conference of Labor and Social Affairs Ministers and the 2013 Conference of Health Ministers , is proven.
or
c) Proof of training in nursing assistance or geriatric care assistance, which has been successfully completed under state law and started by 1 January 2020 and lasted at least one year.
or
d) a license as a nursing assistant issued on the basis of the 1985 version of the Nursing Act can be proven
or
e) the successful completion of another ten-year general school education. Further requirements: Health and personal fitness to practice the profession, language level B1 (certificate)
Training process
The 3-year training to become a nursing specialist includes both theoretical and practical parts.
You learn the theoretical basics at school, which you can then implement and deepen in practice with your training provider for practical training.
Theory and practice always alternate.
During the practical phases, you will be accompanied, supervised and assessed by our teachers.
The knowledge learned is applied directly in the practice facility. You will learn to perceive, respect and care for people with all dimensions of their lives.
In practice, you experience care as a holistic process with guidance, advice and support.
The practice facility and the Kolping technical school for nursing work together intensively to enable optimal training. Among other things, there is a regular exchange between pupils, practical instructors and teachers.
The theoretical training comprises 2100 hours, the practical training 2500 hours.
Look after and care for
You look after and care for people in a care facility, in a hospital or at home.
This includes personal hygiene and food intake, but also support and advice.
Another aspect of the profession is the implementation of ordered measures:
- Change bandages and tend wounds
- Monitoring therapy
- Checking of the vital parameters and many more activities
Documentation and administration:
So that you have an overview of all care measures and the development of the patient or resident, document them carefully and conscientiously, note any abnormalities and changes and carefully monitor the state of health.
During your training you will learn:
